#AZFTF CEO Melinda Morrison Gulick moderated a panel of speakers at the 's Chamber Policy Series. The event, How Child Care and Early Development Shape Arizona’s Workforce, brought together child care and early development experts to provide insight into the child care challenges in Arizona. The panel also highlights the connection between post-secondary attainment and early learning and how that contributes to Arizona’s future workforce.Families need accessible, affordable child care to be able to go to work. Stephanie Itelman, a representative from EPIC, Executives Partnering to Invest in Children, a Colorado-based organization, shared how they are working directly with employers in Colorado to find solutions to the child care crisis. “We are helping in bridging the child care world and the business world because they often speak different languages,” Itelman said. The business community plays a vital role in addressing the child care crisis at a large and small scale.

First Things First Navajo Nation Regional Partnership Council partnered with the Navajo Project Indigenous LAUNCH and the Navajo Nation Department of Behavioral and Mental Health Services to present the 2024 Diné Early Childhood Summit earlier this month.The summit highlighted the vital role of family members in advocating for the health and wellness of young children in their families. #AZFTF Senior Director of Tribal Affairs Candida L. Hunter and Community Engagement Coordinator Marlo McCabe led conversations around improving collaboration among early education and pediatric health partners throughout Navajo Nation. The summit highlighted the need for refined referral processes to better connect families in need of services.Fun fact: #FTFNavajoNation Community Engagement Coordinator Marlo McCabe's son, Kendrick McCabe, was a panelist!
