The startle response is ingrained, it can be tamped dependent upon the environment you spend time in, but it is and will remain there. I think the best practice is to create problem solvers that can quickly delineate between task and priority! Is the priority in a vehicle ambush to engage your attacker as quickly as possible or is it to struggle with the task of disengaging your seatbelt so that you can perform the task of opening the door and then escape your vehicle? If we create thinkers, to include those folks responsible for training officers, I believe we do those officers a greater service! Always a student Bill, thanks for the work you do🤙🏻

The sentiment here is KEY!Why would you apprehend an individual already experiencing pain and trauma using a painful and potentially dangerous method/methods of restraint? Wouldn’t you rather be compassionate and, WITHOUT causing pain, enable the person to be taken to a place of safety where they can be treated and cared for appropriately?

📢 Just participated in the Northern Police Research Webinar today, and it was truly informative and engaging! The session titled "Grasping the complexity in policing traffic: a methodological explication" presented by Vesa Huotari from the Poliisiammattikorkeakoulu - Police University College, Finland, was insightful and answered all my questions. It's great to see such valuable knowledge-sharing in the field of policing. Thanks to Vesa Huotari and the Coordination group for organizing this enlightening webinar! Looking forward to more learning opportunities like this. 👮♂️🚓 #PoliceResearch #Webinar #LawEnforcement #LearningOpportunity
